B25Modelman
I have a rarely seen Browning B5.3 Special Sporting 30" bored cylinder and 1/4 for the previous owner. I have owned it for around 15 years and it is in original condition (no other mods) but use it very little. I feel the value was reduced by boring and wondered if Teague choking would increase the value if and when I sell it. The grade B5.3 denotes a model B5 with Pointers either side of the action with oak leaves and acorns all over....beautiful work indeed. HDAV
Nice gun but if already bored to cylinder will there be enough metal to Teague it? Have you asked Mr Teague? something like that is only worth buying to a serious Browning aficionado and to fetch top dollar would need to be as it left Leige. For everyone else its a slightly odd gun with odder choke combination.
Gordon R
Teagues should increase the value. A nice gun, but chokes are a definite negative at the moment.
B25Modelman
I had it valued last year by a fairly well known Browning dealer who put it at £3000 to £3250 as it stands. I understand you only get what someone wants to pay but looking around a few webs and in shops have seen worse condition B25 grades at twice this value. dodeer
For what it costs to teaque it , it wont increase it's value by that. I'd leave it alone.
Canis
B25Modelman Im a little suprised that a B25 sporter with 30" Barrels is only being valued at £3250- you do not include a full photo or staste the guns age but I would assume the minimal choking has removed some value. Teaguing will cost £250-£320 depending on wether you opt for extended chokes or not? it would then certainly be a far more " attractive" gun as with the current choking someone might almost describe it as a skeet gun. I can't see you loosing money on having it done. Is the issue with value of the gun relavent? You say you use this gun very little - what gun do you usually shoot? Are you lucky enough to have 2 B25's .If it where my gun and I was using something else for greater choke i'd teague it in an instant and be using it. Just out of interest how old is the gun - you can tell by the serial number? My B25 started life as Broardway rib trap gun that was partially sporterised before i got it and I have replaced the woodwork such that it is now a proper sporter. It was teagued before I got it but it would have been sent to teague as first job if it had not!

The gun is in superb unaltered original condition other than the chokes which I really have no problems with. I only shoot sporting where cylinder to 1/4 have not let me down so far. I acquired this B5.3 around the mid 90's swapping an unused MINT A1 30" Sporter and an older B1M 30" Sporter for it. I understood it was at least 3 to 5 years old then but will check the serial number tonight. As for the valuation, I too do not believe the price is right for todays market. Quality S/H gun prices have risen when considering current new prices and if advertised correctly this gun would sell easily in the condition it is. All the same, any item, be it a gun or otherwise, is only worth what you can get for it. Lets put it that way the price is of no concern as I have no intention of parting company with it, my son will be its next keeper. When we do manage to shoot, it's sporting targets. Yes, it is only one of my Brownings, the others being, A1 Special Sporting 30" 1/4 1/4 circ late 1970's. With me for 30 years. A1 Special Skeet 27 1/2" true cylinder/cylinder circa 1974. again with me for 30 years. B2G Special Sporting 30" 1/4 3/4 Mint Boxed very little use. With me for 15 years....lovely lovely lovely...considering what I paid and that they are now £10K new. A cabinet full of proper Brownings....(if there was a smiley face for jealous it would go here) Your son is a lucky chap To your original question I would highly recomend Nigel Teague for multichoking your gun- its certainly what i'd do with it if it where mine! B25Modelman
Sorry I made an error in my pricing, a new B2G is £11,000 and 12 month wait. I have just dated them, B5.3 1980 (traded for this just after buying the B2G) B2G 1989 (I have had this longer than I thought) A1 SP SP 1978 (Bought 1981) A1 Skeet 1974 (Bought NOS from Tony Kennedy in 1981/2) http://www.btinternet.com/~daj.fseltd/Browning.htm Edited May 19, 2011 by B25Modelman

I Me to, when I looked at Teaging my 687 costs were looking at £500 ish, chokes and cones. I put a used set of barrels on it instead. With the collection you have then if you are likely to want a bit more reach take another gun. A
