mfletch
Have a look on the inside of the wheels to see if there is a build up of mud or a lead weight has come off

inthedark
Swapping the front wheels with the back ones will tell you if you've got a warped tyre. I had the same problem on a 4runner, tyres seemed OK, but one was deformed.
al4x
check the tyre balancing and if that is ok its probably the pitman arm. If so Milners do the whole arm for @£40 ish

Newsportshooter
Could be any of the above - ALSO, pajeros suffered from a problem with the pitman arm which connects the steering box to the rack (or something like that) - Anyway the good news is that this part was subject to a recall. Well worth checking with mitzi to see if your vehicle has had the recall done or not. They can check UK or foreign vehicles (they just need a few details form the vehicle like chassis number etc) If its not had it done they will do it for you FREE OF CHARGE.... It may or may not solve your problem but at least a mechanic will be looking at your steering when he changes it - so may advise you on any other issues....
