woodentermite
my old BSA meteore is certainly not as powerfull as it once was. im no airgun whizz so anybody tell me why? i've been told that my seal is very worn and needs replaced and also a new spring could help. are these things easy to replace yourself or is it a trip to the gunsmith? cheers - Ben. TaxiDriver
If you look on BSA's website there is a link to/or the name and contact details of the person who has taken on their obsolete parts stock for the older model BSA's
bruno22rf
Parts for this gun should be very easy to find-try T.W.Chambers gun spares if you have any problems.Fitting a spring/piston seal is also a simple job as long as you are mechanically competent and have the correct lubes. If its a later model it will most likely use an "o" ring seal which can be sourced from hundreds of places for pence if you can measure it-aftemermarket springs are also freely available if you want a slight tune up. Acid House
Whats it putting out at the moment........ If the answer is not sure you might want to put it over a chrono before an upgrade...........
marmitemania
Recently put a new piston seal and mainspring in my MK5 Meteor, its transformed the gun although I didn't know the spring was broken until I took the gun apart, even though I have had the gun from new, just be very careful when fitting the spring they are powerfull, another word of caution I would not fit an uprated spring like an OX for example, I have been reliably informed it will ruin the gun. SteveieP
Chances are the piston seal will be worn & need replacing. Likewise, there's going to be a piston buffer washer behind the piston head that will have degraded & now just be crud that needs replacement. Breach seal...get a new one. Lastly the mainspring.Titan XS number 5 for any Meteor MK1-5 or Titan XS number6 for Meteor MK6. Alternatively J Knibbs Int http://www.airgunspares.com/ for any original parts including a BSA mainspring. Care please! The mainspring is under preload. Don't expect anything above 8 fpe in power as it's only the most recent model that I would describe as "full power"
demonwolf444
i have my old norica fitted with an OX mainspring, I know Norica have NOTHING on BSA however im only drawing the comparison as they are both old. Proir to being fitted the gun was smooth to cock yet underpowered, With the new spring it seems ungainly and clunky when being cocked, its fine shoots straight and has some real thwack in it now, If you have the money and care enough i would send it to someone who has spairs, as apposed to putting a modern spring in an old gun, mine doesnt get as much use anymore
