I have owned a bunch of Remington over the years, from little model 7's to SPA and XCR's and they have never let me down.

I have also owned, and own both the 243win and the 308win and find that if 85% of your hunting is small game with the odd small/medium deer then the 243 will do, but if your shooting 50/50bmg small/big game or any large deer then go strait to the 308win and forget the 243 all together.

i don't know what prices are like over in Ireland, but over here they have outstripped thier value over the alternatives as brand new guns go

yea because i was thinking of getting the 243 and use 120 grain for deer and 50 grain for foxes. But when i have a .22 it will do for foxes and get the 308 for deer. Thanks for that. :good:

You can get near 120gr bullets (117gr) in .243 but how well they will shoot is another matter! The thing with swapping bullets is creating serious work too so it's better to settle on a mid point bullet for both.

Why .243 or .308? WOuld something in the middle not be better or do you already have the slots? If you do have the slots there are plenty of .308 bullets that will kill a Fox - with that much energy bullet selection isn't that important!
