Yellow Dawgs From Texas

Recommended Posts

Howdy, as we say in Texas. New to the forum and thought I'd say hello. I'm a retired 69 year young duck hunter with two yellow Labs and a Labradoodle. My wife and I have 120 acres of N TX land on which we've developed four training ponds and two hunting wetlands.

I've been an upland hunter most of my life, using pointers and setters almost exclusively. Did have one Brittany Spaniel along the way. Raised and trained nine of my own gun dawgs over the past 55 years, 3 of them are still with me. Heart surgery somewhat limited my ability to hunt behind my dawgs all day so we switched over to more passive duck hunting in 1999. After raising two yellow Labs, we brought a Labradoodle into our life. It was really intended as a "pet" for my wife Carol but the pup was from excellent field bred Standard Poodle X Labrador lines so we decided to try to see if there was some genetic potential there. These are some random pics from Rustys first year with us starting at 8 weeks of age, right up through the end of his first full waterfowl season last January.

By the way ... we raise most of our own training pigeons here too. One of our grandsons playing bird boy for us ...
