wildfowler.250
Hi - I have been using an Extema for 3 years it is an excellent tool for any find of shooting shoots very well and is reliable. Only issue that I have is that I bought a "camo" trouble is that over the years the camo has worn off in places so would recommend you buy black. Have you considered Benelli super black eagle - this is another good auto - my mate has used one for years and cannot fault it. good luck with your seach Thanks for the reply! I have to say I did like the look of the wetlands cammo too does it come off fairly easily? Just on the barrel? Receiver? The safest option is to always go for the black version but even then the 'matt' type finish on the barrel can scratch off. ATB!
wildfowler.250
i have an sx3 and its a great gun for pigeons and fooling just needs to be kept clean around the cylinder Thanks for the reply I think I should at least handle the gun. My only problem was that I can see myself not cleaning it enough..there's nothing worse than a semi jamming mid flight
Albertan_J
IIt's just a matter of screwing of the barrel and giving it a quick wipe down. I've never had a jam and have put all sorts of different loads through. I should really drop and clean the trigger mech but can't be bothered. Also used a xtrema2 cannot fault anything with them but the price. Do find sx3 quicker to load.
ziplex
I'd say shoulder as many as you can, the M2 can feel too light/short for some and it is fairly recoil heavy if that bothers you....compared to my Franchi Raptor the M2 does kick a fair bit harder but I don't notice it while shooting on the foreshore at all. I did try a mates SBE2 with heavy 3 1/2" shells wearing a T shirt and that certainly rattles the fillings The upshot with the M2 is with a neoprene sling you won't even notice it slung over your shoulder and when you decide to clean it, it takes no time Edited June 22, 2011 by ziplex
mudpatten
Another vote for the SBE2. Built to last, handles superbly and easy to clean. It`s the only other semi that can compete with the Xtrema 2 and, in making the choice between the two, it`s really down to preference for balance/handling characteristics. Simon123
Whats up with the foresight on the maxus?? I know what you mean about the A400. I just cant justify splashing out all that on a gun that is likely to get soaked and coated in mud Well it's got browning's hi viz comp sight, which has interchangeable litepipes in different sizes and colors ;) In fact i love this hi viz comp sight so much im going to get one for my Hatsan , it suite's my very well as i shoot in different conditions from dark wood's to open fields, where this sight will come in very handy and much easier and quicker to spot when im in need of a quick shot when foxing and clay pigeon shooting and much easier to see were im aiming when in dark areas whereas when using the brass bead currently on my Hatsan. :good:
Ireland's Finest!
Benelli Super Black Eagle 11 I'm only sayin this because I've one bought tho, I'm just waiting for the licence to come through

One of these days I'll get round to taking the damn thing off

Camo has worn (not easily)off along all of the angles/edges, trigger guard, between the loading and ejector ports. where your hand grips when firing and some chipping on the barrel. Please bear in mind that I have used and abused this gun for three full wildfowling seasons plus pigeon and clay shooting. I have put hundreds of carts thro it from 24gm to 3 1/2 steel mags. And now I i've bought a new black one.
chrispti
My Xtrema2 not once ever jammed, the kick off was nice when using some of mudpattens 3.5'' home loaded anti aircraft shells I now have a Maxus, it has had 1 or 2 miss feeds in its early days, other than that I cant fault it, a very nice gun. Its lighter than the Xtrema2, faster locking time, a lot less muzzle flip and the felt recoil is probably on par with the Xtrema2. The only downside with the Xtrema2I found, was that you couldn't adjust the LOP Other than that, which ever feels right for you, you wont be disappointed with either
Evil Elvis
Another vote for browning gold, cycles quicker than an extrema and kicks less too. Edited June 23, 2011 by Evil Elvis
truckboy1
I have a MAXUS and i do love it, i had the Goldhunter before but thought it was too heavy, i do like the Browning's speed loading system. The only thing i will say is wear safety glasses (sun glasses) as the un-burnt powder comes out the side exhaust vent and if your down wind it does burn your eyes. Evil Elvis
Ive been toying with the idea of a maxxus for ages, but I shoot well with the gold hunter, its in good nick and cant justify the cost really
wildfowler.250
Cheers for all the replies guys I think I'll try and source a maxus or an xtrema with a 26/28' barrel. Neither are cheap but it should last me ages
