Mr mac
Hi after my bashing of my gun earlier to free the inertia switch... it made me think how strong are the stocks?... and from bashing it with my palm firmly on the side would i of caused damage to it? VicW
No you wouldn't,but to get the inertia mechanism to change over, bang the butt/recoil pad,not the side of the stock. Vic.
beretta
:stupid: hit the but not the side. :o
marmitemania
I would not bash my gun atall, the inertia switch is activated by the gun jumping back with the recoil, bashing it will have the same effect but if you have a flaw in the stock somewhere you could be weakening it, not a good idea I would have though. Just my tupence worth and Im sure lots would disagree but a gun is a reasonable presision instrument so shoulkd you be bashing it?
Mr mac
i did give the stock a fair old wack on the side so did worry me a bit.... all to fid that there was nothing wrong with the gun anyway! ian
Spara Dritto
No, I wouldn't personally worry, although I know what your feeling "damn what have I done?" Forget it, chances are your gun is perfectly fine. If you can shoot over 50gram loads through it a hit on the butt pad is far less damaging! I may be wrong but you have to be realistic. Spara Dritto
Think, guns are designed to be robust... They will get knocked all the time through use.
marmitemania
I know what your saying about it having heavy loads through it but when its shot all the kentic energy is disapated through you and you are made of water and are squashy, a floor or wall is hard so if there was a flaw it could open it, but each to there own and Im not looking for confruntation. Spara Dritto
Na I completly understand what your saying marmitemania. There is a difference but I just thought, the gun gets loads of shock from heavy payloads and you can do it for years. I wouldn't advise anyone to hit it hard but again I wouldn't worry if I did it a couple times gently.
Spara Dritto
Good point about the flaw though! I wouldnt be worried about the internals but as you say the wood is different! Edited June 20, 2011 by Beretta Italy
paulos
Why bash it anyway? Can you not just use your barrel selector to fire both off?
Spara Dritto
Why bash it anyway? Can you not just use your barrel selector to fire both off? He wouldn't be able to tell if the inertia mechanism was working that way.
paulos
He wouldn't be able to tell if the inertia mechanism was working that way. Seems a bit neurotic, that's all! Just take it shooting and you'll soon find out!
Spara Dritto
Hmm I know what your saying, but I also understand, sometimes you just want to make sure and you can't/don't want to wait till the end of the week to check :\. We're all different I guess..
welshwarrior
Why hit it on the side of the stock recoil comes down the stock and put of the recoil pad. The stock will be fine but don't knock it about to much they are expensive
