JonD
Hi All, Wondering if anyone shoots at Cloudside although it looks closer to Bosley. Any info re practice round prices for Skeet, is there someone to button? Is the food any good and what cartridges can you use there? Cheers, Jon. As for the food, well that along with everything else was top notch. I shot there as part of a corporate day and it consisted of - 10am bacon and egg baps, 11am shooting with instruction, 12.30pm coffee and snacks, 13.30pm 25 bird comp plus extra birds then a 3 course meal. Superb day and place - I must have shot well over 100 clays. As for cost then I'm afraid I don't know as I was a guest. As for cartridges then I would say plastic was the flavour by most. I did enquire about instruction prices and a ball park figure of £70 was mentioned including cartridges, but you can share that between 2 if you wish. Give it a go. Jon, I assume you have seen the Cloudside website http://www.cloudside.co.uk/ I have only shot there 3 or 4 times and the last time was probably 4 or 5 years ago but the clubhouse and facilities are among the best in the country. The grounds are absolutely pristine with fantastic views but for me they have a couple of drawbacks. 1) Not open on a Sunday 2) The ground is primarily geared up towards disciplines other than sporting although they do shoot compak/sportrap. Plaswads are acceptable, or at least they used to be, don't know if they provide a button pusher they might have gone over to a clay mate type system. They are obviously capable of good food but I'd be surprised if the full a la carte menu is available unless, like station, you are lucky enough to be invited on one. stokie
There is a young lad available for button pressing but he may not be available at all times . The restaurant is open for full menu all day . The food is the dogs danglies although not cheap. Cart prices are about as good as you get but clay prices are a bit dear ,think last year was £7.50 per 25 clays for non members There is no claymate it is paid for on trust . You pay for what you tell them I can recommend this ground it's not far from us but as said its not open on Sunday .
100milesaway
The drive up is awesome, you feel like your driving up into the sky. I didn't know they had a steep hill in cheshire.Gang hut is very posh, clays quite pricey, sporting limited but pleasant people there. from Auntie. JonD
Cheers All, Looking forward to visiting now the web site looks excellent and the scenery is awesome, I miss it as I used to live near there before I started shooting. Just planning to shoot some skeet and maybe sporttrap. Sunday not an issue on planning to shoot there Friday\Saturday then either Doveridge or Northampton on the way home on Sunday. And there are plenty of steep hills in Cheshire Jon.
Salopian
They have claymate on the stands.Excellant facilities and the Compact is awesome, Maurice Snelling, Cheshire shooter runs the place. Plaswads okay, can be very busy as corporate work besides the club members is their bread & butter work. Food is brilliant, much better than bread & butter.
