beanieboy
Can someone clarify for me what exactly happens the round during the bolting process, ie during the push forward and the final push down of the bolt? - can you also advise how tight is too tight [if you pardon the expression] - I have been trying a number of .22 subs in my CZ American and have found some rounds tight at the final pushing down of the bolt, whilst others are so smooth you wouldn't know they were loading. Seems a shame to limit myself to those subs that are silky smooth when a certain tightness is maybe acceptable? Remingtons and Winchesters are very smooth [though the cases of the latter sometimes stick in the chamber] whilst Eley and CCI [HP and solids] are a bit tight. Excuse my ignorance - I have been using a HMR for years [before changing to the .22lr] using the same round and never encountered this type of issue. Just ignoor ones that feel over tight and live with it, its one of the things that makes these guns shoot so well

All it does is chamber the round and set the firing pin, so when you pull the trigger the pin hits the back of the bullet (rim in this case as its a Rimfire rifle. Paddy Galore!
this is an easy one, check round the rim of the cases that are tight to chamber, they'll probably be minutely deformed, i found this with cci before and my sako wouldn't chamber them, yet my mates new cz didn't have any bother whatsoever with them. beanieboy
Is it still ok to use subs that are a bit tight? - will it damage the rifle?
Paddy Galore!
Is it still ok to use subs that are a bit tight? - will it damage the rifle? i didn't use them in the sako but they were so tight it was a damn chore, if you feel you are putting to much pressure on the bolt then don't use them, you shouldn't have to put too much effort into chambering a round. atb, gram.
