Guest georgehare
Just thought i'd let you lot know how we got on the other day. Most years we get 10-15. A few years back we had to miss it and we shot 24 the next year so its pretty constant. But for some reason this year the woods were packed. We lost count but we definately shot over 60  Also had a couple of days after at my friends (the keepers) and got the larsen traps going, went lamping, got some feeders in and 'sorted out' some cock birds. Didnt see anything out lamping apart from 6 or 7 fallow and tonnes of hares. Which is a good thing i spose.
Cranfield
A few people have commented to me about the apparent increase in grey squirrel numbers this year. Has it just been a good breeding year, or is there some other longer term reason ?

COLINSRI
Just remembered I also shot the best pigeon i have ever shot that day. Saw some pigeons flying into the wood and seeing us and flying off when we were eating so i went off and stood in the ditch under the flight-line. Just stood still and waited for them to come over, only shot 2 but was only there for about 10 mins. On the first i moved too early and scared the group of pigeons flying towards me, thought i might as well have a shot. Dropped one (dead in the air) It was a high bird and when i paced it out it was 63 big paces (at least a yard) from where i was standing.... Was bloody chuffed ! EDIT: Theres some pictures in the pictures section now What gun were you using?
