Iggy
Hi all, Shot a new gun today for the first time (100 ESP), shot OK but I'm now nursing a slightly tender cheek (facial!) It could just be new gun syndrome, but I'm also thinking I'm pressing my cheek too hard onto the stock to get the beads properly 'stacked' in a figure of 8 when I pre-mount, which in turn is making me think the comb needs lowering a touch? Cast and LOP seem ok, but I guess these may need checking as well. Could anyone recommend a good gunfitter in the north Staffs/Derbyshire area who could check this out for me and make any alterations that are needed? Also, does anyone have any idea as to how much I should be paying for such a service? The guns a Guerini Summit Sporting. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated - as always. poorpeet
I think your stock may be a little on the short side for you. I had the same issue with my first gun, a Baikal. A mentioned it at a shoot one day and was advises to get one of those slip on rubber stock extensions. I did and it added 15-20mm to the LOP. The result was no nore sore cheek! ChrisAsh
Unless the gun is a very bad fit,Use the gun for about 6 months practice mounting it each day and obtain a constant mount, then get it fitted Edited July 20, 2011 by ChrisAsh
