Doc Holliday
I'm looking at getting some decoys and/or a magnet and came across these ones - FUD or Fold Up Decoys & a Hypa Flap Magnet. I assume the magnet stll require a battery for the rotary action? How effective are they? Likewise with the FUD's. Would like to hear from anyone who uses them. Doc Holliday
I take it no one has tried them then. Perhaps some other recommendation may be forth coming as to what works and what doesn't. I'd like to believe that what the manufacturers say about their products is true but I'd much rather hear from the guys who use the stuff and have unbiased experience about it. simshaz
i use a standard magnet with 2 Hypa-flaps to begin with. after the first two birds are shot i replace real birds for the hypa-flaps and put the hypas on bouncer poles at the entrance to the pattern. i do have some FUD's... whether they are actually any better than half Shell, flocks i doubt. you will always get some who say they are better, but i have yet to be convinced. stace1g
I use both the FUD's and half shell flocked decoys. I cant really tell any diference between the two. I am however one of the less experienced pigeon watch memebers so my opinion is perhaps not the best! I can hwoever comment form a pracatical standpoint and in my opinion the half shell decoys are easier to use and look more realistic. activeviii
i use either FUD or half shell, depends on what im trying to get out of the pattern. sometimes i find that with no wind that the half shells do not work and in bright sun, even though they are flocked. if i need movement then i use my modified fuds. i have got rid of the heavy plate and replaced with bike spokes and washers then put spoke in end of bamboo cane. i find that FUDs work best on sowings and winter rape, not so well on standing crop. have yet to try them on the stubble. jez28
I tried my new FUD's last week on rape stubble and they seemed to work really well! I like the sound of the mod though, maybe to get a bit of movement out of them.....
deny essex
FUDs work ok for me , ive used mixed with shells and on their own, I did modify my FUD's quite a bit as vids on here will show, more as a preference to what I wish them to be, movement, lighter, more compact etc Im much happier with them minus the steelwork which was pretty useless in hard ground and growing tight crop, was a lot of faffing around to get them how they are now but I like them.. vampire
The number of times i have nearly shot my mates hyper flappers on his rotary because they look so real or you hear the wings flap ,they are brilliant,as for fuds i havent noticed any difference from half shells.
