What about a travel rod...in 3 or 4 pice...there are some decent quality rods like that around.. A trip into yer local tackle shop, or a visit to a fishing forum would be good...try Anglersnet.co.uk...tell them I sent you... Good luck whatever... Tell you what, I bought a 9 foot abu specimen telescopic last year for slinging in the boot just in case I fancied a spin after work. I 'm amazed at the quality, if it werent for the equidistant ring spacing you wouldnt know it was a tele. the rings are single foot affairs that are whipped on and theres a floating ring on the last section that you slide into place. It casts upto 30g beautifully, has a lovely cork handle and comes in an embroidered rod tube. I 'm very impressed as it was only £30 on ebay new. Its made me look at teles in a new light. I agree I have a small tele rod that i take to silver bash while I wait for the bigger ones to come and the feed and keeps me entertained and it was only £15 ...does the job
Evil Elvis
No Such thing as a "good" cheap telescopic
Pastiebap
I personally wouldn't touch a Tele rod, but that's just me. I use a Daiwa match rod that I bought 20 years ago and is still going strong. You should get a perfectly good Daiwa or Shakespeare float rod for pict price. Just don't scrimp on the reel. Lord Geordie
This was MY cheap Telescopic rod and reel combo and to prove it would work I fished with it and caught this monster The rod collapsed to around 9" and extended was about 2 foot 8" Was loads of fun. As for the rod you want!! What will you be fishing for? If it's Trout, Carp, Pike I would suggest getting a Carp Rod and a Bait runner reel...... paul87
I got a great telescopic Rod and reel from Decathlon for £25 just had to add line £3 for 300m of 30lb fleurocarbon (sp). Its 12ft fully extended with a medium heavy reel to suit. Does the job really well, very well put together piece of kit I was using it for mackerel on saturday casting feather traces 90+ yards with a 1.5oz weight, the reel was up to the job too with a full trace of 4 mackerel. It might not be everyones cup of tea as its white and black but i wanted it as a spare and something compact I wasn't bothered about leaving in the car boot "just in case." I also used it bait fishing from the coast using 3.5oz gripper weights and again it didn't strain the rod much at all. See link below http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/set-sea-coast-s-350-tele-172144420/ There was a nicer one for £40 which was much the same as the one i bought but probably slightly better performance wise, seemed to be just as flexible as the one i bought but a little thinner and lighter. (More than likely better quality components and more metal parts on the reel both were 3 ball bearing) This one http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/surf-classic-390-light-set-3404596/# Both rods were for sea use but the £40 one would probably be suiltable for pike or carp as it was quite similar in build to a 3 piece carp rod i have. The 3 piece carp rod is also 12ft its an Abu Garcia Enticer, its a decent rod and i got it with an okuma interceptor reel with some free tackle for £55 from a local shop. Its suits me well for sea and pike fishing although the reel struggle a bit with a full trace of mackerel. Hope this may be of use to you. vole
I have had a few tele rods and only broken one which was really rubbish . Otherwise I have caught some really hard fighting fish off New Zealand with a 10 ft Shakespeare thingy . Kahawai up to 7 or 8 lb . I would not touch a telescopic fly rod though , there are many good multi piece ones you can fit in a pocket . Shimano STC range are excellent .
