Pezaisahunter
My Grandad recently purchased a Berreta Silver Pigeon V which is such a beautiful gun, case hardened, sidelock lookalike and 30" barrels. Very lightweight and maneoverable but i would really love to buy myself a new gun also, preferably a Semi - Automantic due to 95% of my shooting being out on the marshes. Yep I'm a die hard Wildfowler! At the moment its between the Browning Maxus (either Duck Blind camo or Composite black) or maybe another choice such as a Remington 1187. I'm not too fussed as long as its under the price of £1000. £700 - £950 would be best thanks. I welcome any suggestions. Really I will be choosing between either; Browning Maxus, Benelli Super Black Eagle II, Remington Versa Max, Remington 1187 or Berreta Xtrema. AS YOU CAN SEE, HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU CHOOSE BETWEEN EITHER OF THESE GUNS, THEY'ARE ALL FANTASTIC!!! I would be buying this gun next spring so i could have enough practice throughout the spring and summer ready for the coming Wildfowling Season. Reason being i am shooting my little 20 Bore this Season. Thankyou Pink Foot Perry. Edited July 30, 2011 by Pezaisahunter
BlaserF3
My local dealer..Malmo... recommends one of these http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/baikal_mp153_semi-auto/ as a good all round gun.
rimmie
Go for the browning there great !!! They have got a speed load/unload system and loads of other bells and whistles you won't be disappointed !
poontang
Any of the guns you mention will do the job, although one or two will need to be secondhand to suit your budget. I can't imagine any 'die hard' wildfowler wanting to use a 20g on the marsh though

The only difference is, Less Shot (pellets).

Just out of interest what cartridges are you using?

I understand and everything but nearly everything i pulled of the marsh last season had been shot with my 20 Bore Under and Over. But as I am only 15 I am looking to invest in my very own Semi - Automatic which i capable of lasting me a very long time! And ahh well thats the problem which arised last season, I have already submitted a forum regarding the cartridges which i will be using next season, as i only sheet steel I am wanting to buy myself better quality ones for this season, not sure as of yet which ones they will be. coyotemaster
As you have some time before you buy I would handle as many of your candidates as possible. Some of your choices are longer in LOP and some come with shims to change that plus cast off if needed. By handling the guns and check for fit and feel and if possible shooting another owners at Clays you can avoid wasted money and dissapointment. I used to shoot the Remingtons a bunch until I picked up another fellows Browning Silver at a skeet shoot, it made the Remington feel like a post. I now shoot Silver and love it. On the subject of good CHEAP non-toxic cartridge. Try some 'Laylvale Express Supreme Steel' or 'Hull steel game Extra'. Think these come in 20g but not 100%. angrymallard
As mentioned there are such a wide variety of semi automatics on the market and a lot of them are fantastic guns. You wont go wrong with a browning, beretta or benelli. I got a benelli mk 1 super 90 when i was 13 for wildfowling and still have it today, 6 years on and it's still as good as new (i like to look after my guns )it has been a dream to shoot with however many more models have come out since then and i am considering replacing it for something newer chambered for 3 1/2" cartridges. My father had an xtrema2 which i have fired two shots from taking a long range left and right on a pair of mallard needless to say it definitely makes the xtrema appealing. I have also been interested by the Maxus and VersaMax. Best of luck with choosing your new S/A and good hunting. Nice to see more younger people taking wildfowling seriously.
