Devon Red Letter Day

Dad and I popped round to see the keeper about 3pm yesterday, and it was very hot and clammy weather. He mentioned he had seen a few pigeons on some barley stubble on the estate and said we could pop up there if we wanted to have a go. As it was a lovely afternoon, we had a look and about fity odd took off out the trees and the ground. Thinking we could get a bag of maybe twenty or thirty, we set up two hides thirty yards apart under two oak trees and well, to cut a long story short, had a very constant flow of singles and pairs that decoyed beautifully. I took the first 8 birds with 8 shots, including a left and right, and the total at 8pm after a pick up with the three dogs was exactly an amazing 100 pigeons, plus 8 crows. I was using my Beretta ES100 auto, Dad his Maxus. All shot with Prima 7.5 cartridges, what we always use for decoying. Seeing as we only popped out for a chat with the keeper, what a bonus day :good:
