philh
Our Syndicate has a single gun place that we are selling on an individual day basis this year. If you fancy a day then it is £100, so PM for more info. Dates available are 8th and 22nd Oct 12th and 26th Nov 10th and 24th Dec 7th and 14th Jan 2012 Just to let you know the 8th / 22nd Oct, 12th / 26th Nov and 7th Jan have now gone. bigpete
Sorry, very interested in this but never done anything like this before, both me and the wife, so we pay £100 and no more and get to take home between 35-50 birds? That doesn't sound right surely? Forgive my nativity and please explain, cheers
scimitar
The 35 - 50 birds is the total number of birds expected to be shot per day. Estates normally charge around £25 per bird. So if you wanted to buy a 50 bird day just for you and your wife it would cost about £1250.
bigpete
Gotcha, so I will get maybe a couple to take home? Can I just bring the wife for the walk out? If so I'll book 3 days, I'll just check my diary when I get in. Oh, what does stand one walk one mean?

philh
Thanks for helping with the explainations. As Swiss tony and scimitar pointed out, the plan is 14 guns in total, seven shoot and seven walk and beat up the birds (there is genrally some volunteer beaters also). Once the drive finishes the seven guns swap around for the next drive and so it goes on. Time allowing we will get 4 to 6 drives in total completed in the day with a break for lunch in the middle. Lunch is bring your packed sandwiches though there is a nice barn to sit in with a hot water boiler. We think that the total birds shot will be 35 - 50 and the guns will get first priority for a brace, and then beaters. We are an informal shoot, and focus on everyone having a friendly enjoyable day. Hope that helps. Phil. it means wat it says on the tin you walk 1 and beat then you shoot the other

scimitar
Try shooting at some of the other estates available, I've seen people pay £1250 for a 50 bird day (10 guns) £125 per person and the day being over by 11 o'clock after only 2 drives. Especially when you get some smart **** who hits everything he fires at. Edited August 12, 2011 by scimitar

Kes
Hi, All you guys up in the northeast there is a youn newbie (15 yrs old) who is looking for beating in the area. He's on here as polecat333 and if you can help find him some beating that would really be a start for him. Cheers Kes
scimitar
Phil, apart from partridge and pheasant do you expect to shoot any other species such as woodcock, snipe or duck.
philh
Sorry for the delay i have been away a few days on a family holiday. The walking guns will not get to shoot as they will be beating. This is the first year we are trying this, so we may well amend during the season if we think a lot of birds are getting behind the line. Scimitar, we do occasionally get duck and almost every shoot get woodcock and snipem, but only one or two. Hops that helps. Phil.

Hi i posted a reply to this but don't know where it has gone to? We do get a few duck from the nearby river and Kielder water, and on every shoot we get Snipe and Woodcock, but only a few. Hope this helps. Just as an update we only have 3 days left open if anyone is interested. Regards Phil.
