Bobba
Will too fast a speed scare off pigeons? I ask because I have a new rotary which I use with Hyperflaps and a friend uses dead birds which he has freezen after the last shoot (Can't imagine my good lady allowing dead pigeons in our freezer!) Because of the weight of the birds his rotary spins much slower than mine which whizzes around pretty sharply. Days with his kit are quite succesful. When I go out on my own I do not seem to pull the birds (Sic). They zoom overhead with no interest. Could the fast speed be spooking them? deny essex
It can be different speeds in different conditions the same as most of our decoying, different days different ways, worth trying different speeds Ive had birds come in on slow and on fast useing hypaflaps , but also had them shy away, real birds in a rotary are number one above all the artificials. A speed controler would be a wise investment.
motty
I've found that fast is usually best. I don't even bother with the speed controller anymore.

MJT
With the hypaflaps i found it better to turn the speed down makes them look more realistic i found at full speed the wings cant take it and don't work so well. Using dead bird i like mine at full speed
ack-ack
I've found that fast is usually best. I don't even bother with the speed controller anymore. I have my one going so fast that I have to cable tie them on. I find that 4 tractor batteries in series does the job.
Bobba
Thank you for the comments and advice. I do have a speed control somewhere. Guesse I'll dig it out and experiment. Bob
