Cake444
Got some 3" Cheddite & Fiocchi primed hulls off of Roughshooter. M.I A, appreciate you mentioning him to me as he posted them next day just before he went on holiday. Seems like a good guy with some decent stock. I generally use CX2000 primers and data from Nobel. Do these hulls come with a standard primer and what primer would this be?

sitsinhedges
What do they look like?
Cake444
What do they look like? Hopfully i can explain this well enough. Cheddite Hulls The end of the primer that the hammer strikes is silver with a copper rim. The end that the charge fires from is painted black. Fiocchi Hulls The end of the primer that the hammer strikes is silver with a silver rim. The end that the charge fires from is white with no paint. Hope this helps

If they do happen to be weaker you wont do any harm they'll just be a bit slower.

sitsinhedges
Appreciate that, saves me de-priming them! I will load to my usual CX2000 data I understood that CX2000 were copper and black tipped, CX1000 were brass and black tipped, and CX50s were brass and red tipped. Think they've changed that recently to make them all red tipped according to the claygame website Fiocchi's don't seem to have any obvious markings to differentiate theirs apart from what's on the container they come in. I ordered a load of CX2000's off of Peter Lawman and they are all copper rim with red tip. Says it on the packets as well so I guess it’s correct? Strange though, would be nice if they did have some kind of colour coating although muppets like me should know what their buying first. Vince Green
I think you can get a bit too anal about primers, I've bought loads of different types over the years, job lots, stuff people have given me, primers I've bought abroad with names I don't recognise. Never ever noticed the slightest difference. As long as you are loading middle of the road clay or pigeon type cartridges and not wandering into exotic stuff I really don't believe it matters a jot. The loading manuals and tables mostly specify a certain type of primer because they have a vested interest in getting you to buy them from the people who produce the tables. Cake444
Well I’m loading 40g BB and BBB, and also 40g 00(SG). As the primers are fairly unknown I treated them as if they were high. Bit of a shame but the second time round it will be CX2000's.
roughshooter
The cheddites are CX2000 and the Fiocchi are 616 which is CX200 equivilent - should have had that written on the bag!! Regards Graham

Regards Graham Ah no worries, thanks for the heads up. I’ve loaded the lot of them as if there CX2000's, so the Cheddites are spot on and the fiocchi's will be a tad slower but they will still be fine Thanks again Graham. Cake444
The Silver one/white cover is a Fiocchi 616 industrial. Industrial, high power primer?
Guest cookoff013
industrial ones are cx2000, fio 616, uee-g. they are all hot types. 90% of 12gauge 70mm hulls are hot type, but can be loaded with a milder primer, 67mm cases can have both too especially T1, they can have any primer. also with cases they have different height brass, these can be classified as T1, 2,3,4,5. this is the head brass height not the basewad. T2 head hulls seem to be the cutoff for milder primers.... so all higher brass shells have hot type primers. i just buy the cheapest ones, use and forget. i dont mind either low or high brass, although the highbrass can cause re sizing hickups due to the steel head. good luck !
