JustJon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVRomRSZkUw Probably been posted before - This is the police showing what occurs when they come out to see you. My question is this - by making him approach (what seems quiet a distance) is there no concern he's been forced to put down a weapon and ammo that anyone could be walking off with? Anyone know the answer? I don't know if I would be willing to do this - I'm sure if it ever happened I'd just do exactly as I was told though! JustJon
Not disagreeing with what they did - just want to know my gun isn't being stolen by a real criminal as I assure them I'm legal and above baord! Apparantly this is an enactment - it was designed to show shooters what to expect. Huh !?! Edited September 3, 2011 by JustJon
scarecrow243
they dont do it that way as most would have found out as did a guy out pigeon shooting gets a helicopter telling him to lay down his weapon and walk to the gate where he was pounced on then hand cuffed even the farmer was told to get lost

The Jackson
Guys This is a police training exercise at Leicestershire firearms training centre. It looks like over kill. That's because it is, these guys are undergoing an initial firearms course. They usually have about twelve on a course so everyone gets involved. The chap in camo is an instructor playing a member of the public. The idea is to expose firearms officers to all types of situations that involve a firearm and the type of people that would be in possession of one. For me a well executed excercise, but realistically most firearms officers that deal with someone shooting out in the field would just tell them to break the barrels and sling it over there shoulder for safety. I'm sure nobody wants to put there £25k perdy on the grass/mud.

njc110381
If they tell you to put the gun on the floor just do it. If they want you to walk off and leave it just do it. If the gun gets picked up by someone while you're messing about it's their problem. A lot of people have attitude towards the police but the way I see it if you're polite to them they will be polite to you. I've had them wander out to me a couple of times and it's never been an issue. Never had an armed response but if I did there's a fair chance I'd know one of the blokes in the team anyway. Kes
We had a local incident, helicopter, 2 ARV's and 3 unmarked cars. It was very mob-handed. A man in a field with a shotgun reported by a 'well meaning member of the public'. Man told to unload and put down weapon, lay down and arms above head by helicopter team - heard and watched it all from my bedroom window, maybe 100yds away. Probably a bit overdone, as the house he was seen near to was an MP's. However the guy with the gun was the farmer who owns the land and he was not best pleased - understandable when you have a red dot on your jacket.
