TJ91
u can most certainly get something that will kill a rabbit at that price only problem with that budget and pcp is getting all the filling gear if u live near a shop and dont mind popping in everytime it needs filling then you wont need a tank or pump i can advise you to buy an AA S400...i had 1 in .177 and it was a great tool, killed many rabbits, rats, pigeons and blacks with it! also used a BSA lightning (springer) and that was a great tool for the job aswell (and well within your budget)! EDIT: 'blacks' :yp: i mean - crows, jackdaws and rooks!! Edited September 9, 2011 by TJ91
foxbuster
Hi mate, if were you i'd keep an eye in the gun sales section. You can get a very good quality second hand rifle for that kind of money, chances are it will be scoped ready to go too.
wyatt
I've a PCP and am not yet that good a shot at long range. Guy I'm shooting with recomended I leave it till I get good with a springer, theory being that a springer is harder to use. Once you've mastered that your shooting with a PCP will be significantly better and not use the quality of the PCP to mask any faults you may have. Check out the second hand forums online, not always the shooting ones. For example: http://www.useddudley.co.uk/classifieds/hunting-paintball Alot of people buy a rifle without a clue and then sell it for a reduced ammount. You can get some right bargins! Edit to add: I'm still looking for a nice springer but my cars just broke so need to fix that before I indulge and put into practice what I've just said! garden gun
Most folk on here swear by Air Arms and Weinrauch plus some BSAs. Depends on where you are controlling pests. We have a pair of Gamos (Magnum and whisper X) - they were brand spankers from C&H Westons at CLA Game Fairs for around £250-00 scoped and ready to go. OK they are springers, but in and around the garden/house they are deadly on squirrel, rabbit, rat, magpie, pigeon and jackdaw. The Whisper X is moderated and a doddle to cock as it is a twin spring action (Mrs gun has RSI type problems so a "lighter" actiopn is a real boon). Hunt around the threads on here and make your call - first rifle is a perennial question.
AndyElectro
I use an AA s400 in .22 and it takes down rabbits brilliantly. Would definitely recommend it but as mentioned the filling gear costs quite a bit (I use a pump because I'm stingey)the 2nd hand sales section on here is fantastic for some real bargains It's not always about how good the rifle is but how good the shooter is! M.I.A
I'd go for a springer and kit yourself out with other gear o.e camo etc... I would highly recommend the BSA lightning series there cracking airguns
12borejimbo
I had a lightning, sold it, and wish I never did, great little guns. Mate gave me a supersport for free as he never used it, thats ok, but not as nice as the lightning.
TimmyG21
I have just seen an advert in my local paper for an AirArms 410s compelte with scope and charging kit. £450.00 Does this sound like a good deal?

Yes mate-it does sound good. Cracking rifles too. Try and take someone along with you who's clued up on air rifles, and make sure you test it before you buy. Check for obvious leaks and its worth taking a chrono with you to check power levels.
