First evening flight of season

Myself and my mate decided to have our first evening flight at the pond tonight. The Evening flight started off slowly enough and I was kept amused by the amount of Hares that were moving about this part of the mountain, great to see them.

 

Anyway, first ducks to appear was 3 mallard which managed to get in without us seeing them approach. We flushed them off as we were only after sporting shots. Soon after a single came in towards me with the wind and about 10 yards off the ground, it provided a very challenging shot and that was the first bird in the bag. This was quickly followed by 3 more Mallard and then we decided to call it a night and let the rest come in to feed.

 

The highlight of my night was the 3rd duck that was shot; my mate had pricked it and we saw it drop about 200 yards away down the mountain. So I took my Springer Dawn down to look for it and she made an excellent retrieve.
