yickdaz Posted September 24, 2011 Report Share Posted September 24, 2011 me and the old fella had a decent day after not expecting much to happen, not a great deal of birds around our perms at the min, started off driving round looking for birds, came across a group of canada geese on a drilled wheat field with rape next to it thought we would shift them before they started eating the rape, they did a lot of damage to one rape field last winter. a few skeins started to lift off the marsh and estuary nearby and joined the others on the deck they were passing a small wood so positioned ourselves either side of the wood, a skien passed on my dads side so he dropped one with a 20 bore and steel 1s i didn,t get a chance of a shot. after that we noticed a few woodies pulling into a few oak trees on the drilling watched for a while decided to give them a go, turned out good in the end birds didn,t decoy but gave us some good flighting and some long shots, some ferals decoyed so we bagged them as well. 21 woodies 10 ferals 1 goose.
