DSPUK
Earlier in the year I fitted a magnaclean to return pipe on my central heating - other than having it on for 30 min every few months to keep system working it hasn't come on yet in ernest - Tomorrow the boiler eng is coming to do the yearly service- so after removing boxing round boiler (it's in a cold garage) I removed the filter on the Magna clean - I was surprised at how much black iron oxide it had picked up from the few 30 min test runs I had done through the year. So highly recommended. Dave

Bloke
excellent piece of kit, no more knocking and vile cr*p when draining rads!
V8landy
I fitted one a few years back, great bit of kit. Which reminds me I must check/clean it before fireing the system back up this year.
daz2202
I sell a lot of these, very good bit of kit. I do find though that the fernox tf1 / gold filter is an even better unit as can be drained from the base . I reccomend them for every boiler change now. vampire
And if you have had a power flush as well, you could be saving 15% every time you heat a room, according to sales info.
V8landy
Just been and cleaned it out. See pics below. This is about 1 years since last clean. I suspect the main cause of this sludge is from the aga hot water boiler. But will be disconnecting that in the new year. nearly 30g of sludge collected. I have the 22mm unit. I have now just switched on the pump on its own, and starting with all rads off, turn each one on, on its own to force all flow through just one rad...sort of poor mans power flush. About 1 hour for each. 19 rads to do, will take me a couple of days, will then report results back after that..
-Mongrel-
They are bloody good but I agree the Fernox TF1 is a better unit, not in sludge removal but ease of use and fitting. I too always fit one on a new install or upgrade, mind you, pretty pointless if the system isn't inhibited and with regular top ups.
CZ550Kevlar
i had a new all singing all dancing condensor boiler fitted last year with new rads etc and the salesman offered me a filter for free and mentioned this magnet thing, was skeptical to say the least but said yeah go ahead but i want it for free seeing as they don`t cost that much & i didn`t want to part with my money for magic beans but from first hand experience they do collect stuff so can`t be doing any harm.
