Duffryn
wot happens if you shoot 201 Its normally a "per bird" charge so the whole team ends up paying extra for any over 200. They keep a count during the day and its rare that you go much over without the whole team agreeing to do so.
Guest cookoff013
some times the keeper will allow an overage, by a few %. make no mistake they are there to make money and smiling faces. if the goal 200 is reached before the last drive, it is customary to ask the shooters if they wish to carry on or not, usually charged per bird, but this is agreed by all parties. if the total is not achieved after the last drive, additional drives can be organised, time permiting or at the gamekeepers choice. if you go for a 200 bird day and only shoot 10 birds between you, either you cant shoot, or you didnt have such opertunities to shoot. if a small amount of shots were used to get the 10 birds, then apart from having a bad days shooting, you could meet with the embarrased keeper and have a chat. if on the other hand you rattled off 1000 shells and got only 10 birds, he`s entitles to say you had a good days sport. the game keepers usually have a ratio to hit, some times its 5-1, 5 shells per bird, is considered sporting. most game shooters try and maintain a good shot to kill ratio. 3:1 is respectabley average, 2:1 is good, 1:1 is even better. last time i went was 3:1, 24 shells, personally 8 birds shot, for a little 50 bird shoot. the other folks on the line shot at pigeons, they never got even close. it ruined the drive because it was so early the birds decided not to flush. they just wandered through as though on a contry walk. Alycidon
Birds were well presented, singles and two's, no big flushes. Takes some skill to do that. Looks like a really good day, thanks for sharing, A
wildfowler.250
Cheers . The camera is a go pro hd - really good bit of kit Great video! Out of interest did you go for the "helmet hero" version or just the normal and buy a head starp separately? I'm guessing you got the bigger memory card as well? Think I am going to treat myself to one for xmas

I use a 32gig sd card which will fit about 3hrs of HD footage on it. Its worth trying it out before you go shooting to test the best positions. Hope you have fun with yours ! Btw, how far away will the camera pick up a bird the size of the partridge? The only thing that puts me off is that you won't be able to see the birds very far away? Duffryn
Thanks! Btw, how far away will the camera pick up a bird the size of the partridge? The only thing that puts me off is that you won't be able to see the birds very far away? On the Go Pro you have a setting to select a narrower width of view ( as per this video). It will pick up partridges at about 60 yards and pheasant, duck to about 120 yrds. Have a look at my youtube channel, there is another video on there from last year which has birds at much further ranges. Hope this helps ?
