henry d
The "turkey" or extra full choke is used for an aimed shot at a static bird using up to 2 1/4oz of "Buffered" no.3 (UK size)lead, and the shot is aimed at the head/neck area and needs to be a tight pattern. I don`t think that they would be of much use here for general shooting, and as you can`t try before you buy you can`t tell if the choke will blow your pattern whilst using a normal game cartridge. Hunter
Would it give you an incresed range for say, rabbit shooting? I know it would be bad for fox, as the heavy BB or AAA size needs to have a small choke or the pellets bind and you loose the pattern. But if using small shot it may give you a little more range? henry d
Hunter - As I said in my post,it would depend on the cartridge that you use through that choke and you would have to take it out to pattern it.
Lord Geordie
I beleive Turkey chokes utalise SHORT barrels over long ones or at least thats what i read on the subject earlier in the year. I beleive the reason for such tight chokes is to concentrate the shot at the head and not leave shot in the usable meat? I think the Full we use in the UK is more than sufficient for your everyday field use LG
