thinxs
PLease can anyone advise. Are you allowed to shoot on a public foot path which runs along side a field? If you are considerate to any users that may come along.
Imperfection
Yes you can,but obviously use common sense and dont shoot when there are people nearby because you'll only upset them.

Paul T
My land has a lot of footpaths, so always need to be aware. I unload the gun, leave it in front of the hide where I can see it, and walk out to meet them (when they're close enough). I want to be seen to be safe and responsible, not frighten the bejesus out of someone when they discover a bloke in camo with a gun, hiding in the bushes. The Essex Hunter
PLease can anyone advise. Are you allowed to shoot on a public foot path which runs along side a field? If you are considerate to any users that may come along. Found this on a site, http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CC4QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ramblers.org.uk%2Frights_of_way%2Fknowledge_portal%2Fadvice_notes%2Fshooting&ei=bg-bTtDkG8zA8QOD3ITcBQ&usg=AFQjCNHIWSkihFWmsjqAUtRyyk1rxjbT0A Shooting near a footpath or bridleway 5. Good shooting practice requires that at all times consideration should be given to other users of the countryside. Although it is not a specific offence to shoot across a right of way, it is an offence to disrupt user of that way and cause a nuisance. It is suggested that shooting should halt whilst people use nearby rights of way, and that it is ensured that users have left the area before resuming. This is considered to be a necessary safety precaution and it should avoid causing an excessive noise disturbance. What I do is try to keep as far a way from the public as possible, all very well to get out the hide etc, but it is a hobby and not you’re living! One phone call can, and will ruin your day! And one mistake can really mess up a day. TEH

Sorry mate, it is a living, not a hobby, and we help out with pest control when we can. We use gas-guns etc, but ultimately, regular culling provides the best control. At least Brother-in-law hasn't had to re-drill a field yet this year because it's been hammered by the pigeons . If we are shooting on a footpath along a hedgerow (which are rarely used in truth) I make sure we have good visibility each side to ensure safety is maintained. Yes, ideally I'd like to keep as far away from the public access ways as possible, but it can't always be done. As I said, be safe and be responsible .
