There is very little doubt that a lot of background on Hamilton, his activities, his contacts etc were supressed and edited out of the enquiry. Along with massive inconsistancies within the evidence that was put to the enquiry. But you will never know what or why because a 100 year ban was put on it all. I was a warrant officer in an Army EOD unit on the day. I was tasked to the school because there was a fear that Hamilton had booby trapped his car or a range bag full of ammo he had dropped in the gym. Whilst this turned out to be unfounded, I still had to go through the motions. I also at the request of the police unloaded Hamiltons pistols because in the confusion no one else had thought to do so. I subsequently gave evidence at Lord Cullen's enquiry. What I saw in that gym that day will stay with me forever. At the time I had kids the same age in a similar village primary school a few miles away. Because I "was in my own sad little bubble" as you so eloquently put it, I hugged my kids tightly that night and cried more than ever, before or since. I should add that I was a very active pistol shooter at the time. So you see I didn't get my opinions from watching TV. So I've no need to read any ridiculous conspiracy theories which from the ridiculous excerpts you've quoted would make me even more angy than your thoughtless offensive post has. So "Running Man" thank you for your human compassion and awakening some very unpleasant memories I'm just off back into my own sad little bubble. thats some claim,so you knew the author of the book then,can you coberate any of its content? My nut-nut-nut-o-meter is pushing a strong 12, and it only goes upto 10. The obsession some have over pistols is at best unhealthy and at worst full blown mental. its just the injustice of it really that still gets to ex pistol shooters...not sure it borders on mental,thays a bit strong...people are just still a bit sore about having to give up their chosen legal (at the time) sport...much as u would be if yours was taken away,but of course the ban dident affect you did it............ilr laugh my nuts off when sgc folds into section 1..........quite right cas some of the guys ive seen at clicky clayshoots i wouldent trust to run a bath........ There were literally hundreds of ambulance staff, police, doctors, couselling staff and teachers in the school that day and hundreds if not thousands of more press, parents and MOP outside. I and my number 2 met my police contact, we did our job and we went home to Craigiehall. It was one of hundreds of jobs I did during a two year posting to Edinburgh Troop 521 EOD Sqn and thousands during a 20 odd year career. I have already told you I didn't read the book, so I can't corroborate any of it except to say the bits you've posted are utter ********. I really don't give a flying **** whether you beleive me or not. If any of the mods feel the need to contact me privately to establish my bone fides I am happy to provide names, dates and proof. You however can go and do one, I don't feel any compuntion to justify myself to you or anyone else on here. I won't be discussing this any more on an open forum.
