Another fox for the triple

Hiya,

I decided to pop out to the farm for a couple of hours since it was a nice evening, the second scan with the lamp picked up a pair of eyes about 400 yards out so I got the gun ready and cycled a round. Another quick flash seen it less than 300 yards out and now making its way down a fence line, the next flash seen it sniffing about at about 230 yards out. I tried a few different squeaks and it didnt even lift it's head so thought it best to take the shot as soon as I could, which I did as soon as it turned broadside on to me. The 50 grain V-MAX to the engine room did it's job and it dropped like a sack of spuds on the spot :)

and just to top it off I got a new permission for vermin control and Foxing... happy days :)

Hiya,

Thanks :)

Camokid, yup I'm using a 170 with a red filter and even with the filter on I can clearly ID a fox through the scope at 300 yards so I'm well impressed with it. I tend to stick with the filter as the surrounding area is heavily shot, so most I most Foxes I see are lamp shy and just do a runner if you put the white light on them.

Good shootin davy :good: that must be some light if you can see that far with a filter on

It is Jim, I'm well impressed with it I used to wonder about the some of the claims made about these lamps but not any longer. I'm probably going to be out one night next week if you want to join me and see it first hand ?
