mosa
what i mean is since ive recently sold my Tikka set up to downgrade to allow xmas funds for the kids, would you buy a cheap gun just to see you through. Been looking on gun trader and there are loads of P/Hales's for £150 upwards.
markm
I had one and done the job, they are no where near as good or as nice to own as you get what you pay for. For that price they will be rough and well shot. But you will probably just sell it anyway!
jay222
it would depend what shooting i had to do before i could buy a proper replacement, and also sometimes a cheap gun will turn out to be a bargain and a keeper

markm
Have you tried gun auctions? Holts for example. They always have closed bids in their sales and rifles often turn up, you can pick up some real bargains but of course you have the risk. scotland rifles
Mosa i have just got a tikka 590 in 243 with a zeiss on top for £650, and its a cracking rifle, there are a few wee marks here and there but it shoots sub Mao at 100 yards, in fact its taken a couple of weeks to get used to it after the 6mm BR but it was a local purchase, i also had a 308 set to me on approval from a rfd up north, and i will have a look at it before i buy, the good thing is if you get it from a rfd and it shoots like a shotgun then you send it back, i know of one person that had a rifle from a auction and had to send it back it took him and the auctioneers about 6 weeks just to get it sorted out. just my findings, (i hope the 308 shoots as its another older rifle and it was only £350 from gun-trader, thread cut with bases only. bob. pavman
I would have kept the gun and explained to the kids its hard times just now but things will get better, when i was a nipper we got an orange, some nuts (hopefully not attached to the local priest)and perhaps a jumper lovingly knitted by mum or gran. We played family games and watched dad fall asleep and snore when the queens speech came on much to grans announce……happy days and no doubt why I have turned out such a well balanced and responsible individual
Scully
My old 700 BDL was only £300;I no longer have it but with 100grainers it was extremely accurate. No doubt you will find a Parker-Hale for a lot less.
