Matt Gould Posted November 18, 2011 Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 Hello in the last few weeks i have seen some woodies on my shoot feeding on acorns has anybody got some tip on how to decoy them ? i have heard rotorys work but seeming as i dont own one that might be hard one to do ive got floaters flappers, dead birds in freezer. any tips on how to shoot em would be very helpful Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
carpentermark Posted November 18, 2011 Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 you will probably find it easier to set your hide close to trees and decoy them straight to the trees using lofters mate and just a few deads underneath. thats what id do anyway. good luck. Alternatively, find an oak tree and set up a hide 35yds from it. The birds know where the trees are and will come to them if you're well hidden. Greenhunter Posted December 17, 2011 Report Share Posted December 17, 2011 I've thought about trying this but I've never bothered as knowing which trees they will favour seems impossible to guess, given that there are hundreds on just one of my permissions. I think I would try the lofters idea and also a rotary under the tree too. Quite like the idea of putting a flapper somewhere on the outside of the tree but no idea how this might be done.
