M.I.A
Just had to pop into my local town, upon leaving the town you drive past one of my permissions. Low and behold one field had at least 40 canada's sat on it, i rushed home and grabbed my shotgun and carts. Get down there and there was even more sat there managed to quietly get within 30 yards of the geese i didnt want to shoot them on the deck so i jumped up and they lifted, just as i did something caught my eye off to my right hand side, a bloody dog walker on the other side of the river. Now i know im legit but i didnt dare shoot, for one i didnt want to scare the walker, he was a good 60 yards from me. The walker shouldnt of been there either and secondly i dont want to get into a confrontation, he could of been a great goose lover and caused all sorts of bother! I came home empty handed :( Should i just, in future grow a set and bang away?

Luckyshot
So long as the dog walker wasn't in your line of fire I would of took the shot. If you were in 2 minds you did the right thing not pulling the trigger. Although for future reference "Grow a set "

cockercas
You would be better of hiding were you think they will fly when they lift off themselves. Less chance of scearing them off the field. Btw this isn't wildfowling IMO this is just shoot them because Their their. Go and hide some were in the field tomorrow at 6 am and let them flight in. Leave before the last skein comes to feed. Then they come back for another day. I'm on my phone and carnt see were you are. If you live near me you can borrow my decoys

Always best to avoid any confrontaion just think what would have happened had the person with the dog had panicked then legged it & called the law on their mobile & said they had or their dog had been shot at ! . You only have to see some of the cases talked about in the Shooting Times to see how it can all go wrong !, you could have been met by an armed response unit made to lie face down in the mud then handcuffed & spent a night in the cells !. Better wait for another shot another day . Pole Star
Redgum
You did the right thing, why go looking for trouble even though you are the one on the right side of the law. I've had the same with pigeons, rabbit and deer shooting, it just goes with the territory I'm afraid. Like others have said, be there early or pick a time when the wind will bring em off in a more suitable location.
Blunderbust
Best thing to do mate, you will get another chance at them. Good personal discipline and great restraint, sometimes it is not easy to do.
