Roost shooting Sat

After a unproductive day on the syndicate Saturday due to the high winds we decided to go for a couple of hours roost shooting. Was a perfect evening for roost shooting with quite strong winds but we weren't expecting much to be about. Walking up the fields towards the wood we could see there was quite a lot of pigeons about. The next action packed hour and a half produced some great sport and we ended up with 17 pigeons and 3 magpies. Lost a couple of pigeons in the wood.

Also a pic below of my first woodcock of the season which I shot during the week.

Yeh you can't beat windy evenings like that. There seems to be a lot of woodies about at the minute, all feeding on holly berries down our way.

Went roost shooting again this evening as there are still a lot of pigeons about. Tried a different wood this time. We ended up getting 11 this time, some really good shooting as the birds were coming into very tall fur trees. Below is my contribution to the final bag (6 pigeons):

Ah don't ask mate  . They seemed to pick-up a disease of some sort and died before I could get a chance to try them; I'm not sure if they picked it up off the straw or what. I have got a new Gill that is working quite well.

Well done again ollie. Plenty of grub this week

Cheers mate. I sell the pigeons on to a restaurant, only keep a few for myself. :good:
