Peak District 4x4.

Last year I travelled to the Peak District for a week-end off roading with a great bunch of guys and girls. I took my daughter and we all had a whale of a time.

We drove approximately 80km off road over Saturday and Sunday. Most was pretty tame until we reached Stanage edge. Once at the bottom there was no turning back. The only way was up as they say.

The piccy gives an idea of the gradient and the size of the boulders to be negotiated.

Going away again to the Peaks in a few weeks time and also to Wales in August. Really looking forward to it.

Poacher,

All of the routes we take are designated off road routes/rights of way and the routes are reconnoitred in advance by our team guide.

We are careful not to stray onto any green roads where we are not allowed.

We do not want to upset ramblers, cyclists etc.

The Peaks are beautiful and we would not wish to cause a problem for future generations.

Looks like you had a good time, did you need to use the winch to get out of that one ?? You should be training for the camel trophy, that would be awesome :good::huh::huh:

Whereabouts in the Peaks are you going to Rob ?

Deadeye Ive,

We are meeting up at Buxton for a full on weekend and will drive Stanage again, the trail that is pictured, and also Chapelgate.

We camp out in fields offered by local farmers on Friday and Saturday nights.

Lots of fun and tales told around the campfire under the stars.

George,

I drive an Isuzu Trooper for my off roading.

Sadly, I was talking with the guy who organises the trips today and he was telling me that a bill is being passed through parliament to ban all 4x4 use on existing green lanes which will put the kybosh on our trips if successful.

Looks as though the ramblers are winning the war!

Buy total Off Road magazine chap - 100 green lanes and BOAT's listed in there (well in the past 2 issues - you can get back issues if need be) that can never be closed down by the NERC bill

(fellow off-roader and green-laner  )

Cheers for that Andy75.

Keep on getting muddy eh?

Rob.

Definitely mate - here's a piccie of my chariot too :yp: I know Fronteras have seen lots of abuse on here in the past, but to be honest, they are bloody great off-roaders. Drive-trains from isuzu, and a decent range of engines gives em great scope for the muddy stuff :Dfronty-woods.JPG

yeah they add ballast at the back of an anchor team whilst a decent 4x4 pulls another Landy out the mud :yp:

Nothing against Landys really - I also own a Series 3 88 inch with a 3 litre V6 conversion. I just down like the wooden benches or the feeling that you're flying a Wellington Bomber...

:D
