ferguson_tom
Hello I am going to see a Browning over under tonight before i go the owner has forgotten the model type and just wanted to see if anyone could hazard a guess. Its 28" barrel multichoke 3" chamber ejector, dark wood stock, gold trigger, engraving has 2 pheasants taking flight. He reckons paid about £1300 new about ten years ago. Its only had about 500 shots put through so assuming it fits I am going to go for it. Told it is not a medallist. Thanks in advance, tom Edited December 13, 2011 by ferguson_tom
HDAV
425 would be my guess there are 2 letters at end of the serial which give year and model will be on the action or barrels near the ejectors under forend
Harnser
Dont worry about if it fits or not . Guns are made to fit the average person and as we all know there is no such thing as average . Average means that it dosent fit any body properly . Its not expensive to have a gun fitted to you . If the price is right and the condition is good ,then buy it . Harnser .

ferguson_tom
Thanks for the responses and info on years etc, well its actually a friends at works brother so getting info through him. Not as dodgy as it sounds my collegue has his own license and is a keen shooter. By sound of it gonna be a nice gun as was mistaken he paid 1800 for it and only put about 500 cartridges through it and now been in a cupboard for about 9 years. Will probs go for it as price is very good as needs to sell before xmas. Will post some pictures when I pay for it and get in my cabinet next week. Dr_evil
The model would be written on the gun on the bottom of the action usually Like this

ferguson_tom
Sorry for the constant questions and my naivety on buying this. I have found out the gun is 1994 325 game gun, it was bought brand new for around £1800. I have looked at quite a few second hand guns and this looks the best quality one in my price range, the wood is very nice and tidy and the action is all tight and clean. The gun had about 500 carts put through it from new. Asking price is £500 is this a good deal? To me it seems okay as from what I have learnt from people and internet is its the usage of the gun not the age that makes the price depreciate. HDAV
£500 yes rip his arm off (as long as its tight, works and no damage) whether it has had 500 or 5000 carts through it no matter. 50,000+ then perhps 325 generally didnt have chromed barrels so can be more prone to rust, but the brrels are generally chopper lump (i think and a more expensive process to produce) but £500 is a good price 325 GD5 is one of the nicest guns i have ever seen! To me it seems okay as from what I have learnt from people and internet is its the usage of the gun not the age that makes the price depreciate. As has been said rip his arm off at £500. admittedly the game rib and 28" barrels will mildly affect the value compared to the 30" sporter variant but late low use high grade 325's are prized by those that distrust the monoblock barrels of some 425 and all the 525 models. A 20 year old Grade 5 325 will retail for only about 300 less than a 3 year old grade 5 525. If the barrels are in reasonable nick its an incredibly good deal! grade 1, early(1988/9) 325's start at about £650 usually and this gun purports to be of higher grade in virtually unused condition and at the end of the 325 production run ! arjimlad
I expect someone else will be along who knows more than me, but that wood looks like a grade 3 - better than grade 1 to my eyes, but the engraving says grade 1 .... whatever, you got an absolute bargain there ! mcw65
if its got birds engraved on it its a grade
ferguson_tom
Its got 2 pheasants taking flight on both sides, be easier to see with the better camera. Once again excuse ignorance (very new to all this) but it would make sense to me grade 1 be quite plain and get more expensive as grades get higher? Looking online the grade 5s seem a lot more ornate and deeper engraved. Edited December 20, 2011 by ferguson_tom
