Have you looked at the tips and tricks forum and seen Beardos decoy layout patterns? a very useful bit of information. If you tilt your magnet at about 45' and place the arms high and low it will exaggerate the action of birds swooping in, it will look like one landing, rather than 2 birds circling albeit at differing heights. proTOM1
For me i have mine 5 to 10 yards out infront of me (with wind behind me ) then a 5 to 10 yard gap to the start of the decoys .Ive never had mine at the back of the pattern as its to attract birds to with in range .Having it infront of your pattern brings the birds in over your decoys and by the time they see something wrong they should be dead or missed . motty
I usually place magnets about 10-15 yards from the hide and never normally any further than 25 yards. To be honest i don't normally place my decoys any further than 25-30 yards either. would normally place a magnet between hide and decoys with the wind at my back.
