saggy61
Ok ppl I know this is probably covering old ground but I am going to get a new .17hmr, I have two in mind it’s either a; CZ 452 Varmint (16") or a Browning T Bolt (WOOD SPORTER) Decisions decisions what would you do ?? woodcock1
I would go for the CZ in any format. Ie american varmint etc. I have no experience of the browning but know the CZ are bombproof, accurate and cheap.
sako751sg
I would go for the CZ455 Thumbhole. The one i have posted unbelievable on the paper for accuracy and with the 16 inch pipe makes the package so compact. The trigger needed tweaking but that was a minor drill. bullet boy
I'm gonna buy the CZ 455 Varmint Thumbhole cos I like sako751sg(Dave's)Rifle. What I like about it is the legendary quality from CZ,superb accuracy, smooth bolt-action cocking, the heavy barrel and that stunning laminated thumbhole stock! Dave gave me excellent feedback on this particular rifle so that's good enough for me-I'll be buying one!!
saggy61
Thanks guys I was swaying for the CZ anyway but I will be going for the 452 varmint as I’m not over keen with the thumbhole idea, it may be great but I don’t think I will get on with it to well So I’m off to J F Neville Guns tomorrow to get my new toy ... Thanks everyone, Paul
Thedeerman
I've just bought a HMR T-bolt in synthetic. It comes with two 10 round mags, one fits in the butt of the stock when not in use. Not fired it in anger, but the trigger feels very nice. I also bought a 22LR CZ 452, I dont think you can go wrong with either!
pat g
Hi Paul, I have the 452 varmint with the 16" barrel. Fine rifle and you wont go far wrong. A little heavier than the American model and no difference in accuracy between the two, just i preferred the heavier barrel. I fitted a trigger kit to mine to improve the trigger pull but overall an excellent rifle. Great long range bunny rifle and great for long range crows as well. Enjoy your purchase ATB, Pat
Deano87
You beat me to it I was gonna ask exactly the same question just in 22lr. It seems to me u can't go wrong with the cz.
Dekers
Lots of different guns sell for lots of reasons. Personally I see NO benefit in a rimfire heavy barrel "field" rifle, there will be no advantage in rifle accuracy delivery and it is just a heavier lump to carry around. ALL my rifle are light, even the centrefires, they all shoot better than me! Whatever floats your boat! This is what my CZ Silhouette 452 HMR is capable of...... ATB! al4x
Did the 5th one miss the paper Dekers? Fortunately I'm young enough not to worry about the weight of a rimfire I find it stops the rimmie feeling like a toy gun having the varmint. Whichever way you won't go wrong with a cz d

Totally agree with you Dekers, its a personal thing and i just prefered the Varmint barrel. No difference in accuracy between the varmint or American what so ever, as you would expect and as you say it is slightly heavier to carry around the fields. Rests lovely on the window bag though when i'm using it from the vehicle . Nice grouping there by the way ATB, Pat

Alycidon
Weight is important in a rifle that you will have to carry especially when you get older. A light barrel is just as accurate as a heavy one first shot, and its always the first shot that counts. A
