gixer1
i got ripped off by second hand car dealer on a scam, it's in court now so no details but suffice to say I will never put any faith in one ever again. Or the DVLA who dont check any paperwork they are sent. Or the police who refused to talk to me for the first 10 calls saying it was a 'civil matter' and have taken a year and a half to bring it to the first hearing. Seems to be the case in all too many cases now - I had a boulder bounce off a tractor trailer last year and smash the front bumper on my car and the police weren't interested, I bet if i had a trailer and something bounced off it onto a patrol car it wouldn't be a "civil matter" it's be an unsecured load/vehicle unfit for highway use. PWD
Have to say I have no problem with a dealer charging me any amount of ££ per hour or X £ for parts..that's my informed choice...but telling you a part needs replacing when it doesn't is intent to fraud. I had a Citroen garage service my wife's new car as it was under the 12 month warranty and they left off the engine cover...when I noticed about 2 months later they said I should have noticed sooner..I mentioned I paid them so I dont have to look under the bonnet...they took one of another customers car....never went back after that
ferguson_tom
And another one my father in law had a warning light come up on his brand new mercedes ML and loss of power, took it to the merc garage and they charged him about 500 to find the fault and clean the engine bay that was covered in oil due to the fault being caused by h im not putting the oil filler cap back on. (load of balls) only to drive out the dealership and half hour later the same fault but this time turned out to be a fault with a turbo. Took a fight to get the money back from the first instance as the idiots tried saying it was too completely unrelated things even though it had the same effects. keg
A tale of two service managers but the same dealership. We have an 07 Toyota land cruiser which went in for a service. The service manager at the time told my wife that the brake discs were almost worn out and would not safely get us to Norfolk the next day. When I rang and queried this and asked to speak to the manager, I was told that actually, the discs were okay and whilst they were slightly worn would be okay to get as to Norfolk. The manager did not remember explaining things to my wife in the way she described which is complete rubbish as I was in the car with her when he called and she answered hands-free. The discs still remain unchanged and within specification over 18 months later. Since there is now a new service manager I have noticed a difference in quality of service. There is a well known problem with the injectors, sump strainer, and injector washers on the D4D engines. The washers and strainer have already been changed as part of a "recall", but the injectors still sound noisy when cold. Despite the vehicle being 18 months out of warranty, because of the diligence of the new service manager I am now having the injectors replaced free of charge by Toyota. This new guy is one of the old school and listens to what I'm saying and follows up. This has certainly convinced me to buy another land cruiser when I finally run this one into the ground in many years time. My defender goes to the local independent and they are brilliant. Alex C
Another story of woe with Stratstone Jaguar here. Bought an X Type from them only for it to repeatedly break down and then they refused to repair it under warranty. I lost 6 K on that car in one year
