woodcock1
I presume I need to add something to the soft lead I have for making shot. Im going to melt about 50kg of it into bun tray size ingots but was wondering what any of you add to harden it. Antimony, linotype or something like that. I guess they are both types of metals? Secondly where can I get such things?

Underdog
I use to just use soft lead in my muzzle loaders and steadier loads for breech loaders, works well for 30yds. Just my two bits. U.
Vince Green
Wheel weights, its declining rapidly because the modern ones are zinc but the old ones (lead/antimony) are still around. Buy up as many as you can while they are still obtainable. Linotype is better but nobody uses it anymore so if you can find some bag it. Bullets from range waste if you can establish a contact. .38 and .44 bullets are best. Other than that Fry's Metals. Scrap metal dealers aren't allowed to re sell lead, they tell me, so its going to get harder to obtain. Guest cookoff013
if you do make soft type lead shot, check your drop weights, and dont push shells too fast. the soft lead cant handle 1500fps .
