cocker3
went out with alan aka verminator 69 last saturday night for a spot of lamping on his shoot .it was a calm cold night and after a few fields we came across a vixen on a hedge line no more than 100 yards from us (alan was using him 17hmr and i had my 222.50)i got out and set up on the bonnet of the motor and alan lamped it i put the cross hair on its chest as it was sitting face on to me and sent the shot on its way down it went or so i thought .we drove into the next field and there at the other end was a set of eyes on the far hedge alan guide us round the field so we could get the high ground on it as we stopped it took off i jumped out got the rifle on the bonnet it was moving from left to right and had no intention of stopping so it shot it on the move and it dropped it on the spot the round hit it square in the side of the chest .we moved down the field to where i had shot the first fox and we hunted for 20 min but could not find it :o :o next day alan was back down to see if he could find it in the day light he found the strike of the bullet but no fox i must have pulled the shot . then last night i went out to have a we look round my shoot the first fox i seen was off as soon as the lamp hit it moved to the next farm and the first field shot a cracking dog fox at about 150 yards .he had been eating a wood pigeon which explained why he showed no interest in squeaking . i then had a look round several other fields and was about to call it a night when i caught a glint of eye shine on the edge of the wood so i walked in on it at 200 yards it moved off into the wood . i sat in the dark for 20 min calling and put the lamp back on 100 yards up the field he had come out the wood and was crossing the field from right to left trying to wind me all the time he made it to the far side of the field onto a stubble strip and stopped to have a look at me i put the cross hair between his eyes and squeezed the trigger lights out for good i walked over to where i had marked him and there he was dead on the spot i recon it had to be close to 200 yrds from where i shot him so well chuffed with it sorry about the photos taken on the phone
