malcolm
Has anyone has success lamping with a rifle mounted lamp or is it much better to have two people ? (one lamping one shooting). I've been offered one as a prezzie by the wife and I said I'd check it out first with you guys. Any thoughts?
Dougy
I have one in my cupboard some were may take me a while to find it. What will it be used on Air rifle rimfire centrefire or shotgun unless they have improved them there only good for air rifles and up to about 60yds. close range ratting there ideal. I much preffered the Deben tracer i swapped it for.
malcolm
Thanks Dougy, It was for an air rifle, but you still don't seem that impressed. It doen't have to be a logun, but is the Deben one that much better?
Dougy
I found that the Deben was allot better. The Logun is very small and compact as they say, but unless they have change i would choose the Compact or attom. Or depending on what your future steps are as far as shooting goes ie are you intending to go into the FAC in the near future. If so then it will be worth while in getting a more powerful variable control. not much more £ & still use it on your air rifle. Hey if its your birthday treat go for it, asked for the dogs dooglies, you never know aye!
lurcherboy
For the airgun only IMHO LB
malcolm
Thank you all for your advice. I may go FAC one day. I do have powerful hand held lamps, but if I go as a single shooter thay are ng. Who makes/supplies more powerful rifle mounted lamps and what are they called? Curly87
I use a cluson lamp ontop of my .22 rimmy, works really well altho makes the rifle abit heavy. we also sumtimes use this method with my friend and take out 2 rifles, safety coming first as always. give it ago, i like it because sumtimes as a shooter i will see a rabbit which the lamper might just miss. then it gets fustrating trying to say quickly where it is, with the lamp on the rifle where you see the rabbit the gun will already be there, if u get me might aswel give it ago not got much to loose Thank you all for your advice. I may go FAC one day.I do have powerful hand held lamps, but if I go as a single shooter thay are ng. Who makes/supplies more powerful rifle mounted lamps and what are they called? just to add I use a 2 Million Cluson lamp , but if i were to buy another one it would probs be a lightforce range they seem to be lighter in weight These lamps arnt designed tho just to be mounted on the scope so the are quite big
malcolm
Thanks for all your advice. I've got the picture now ; forget the toys . Since I have plenty of batteries, I don't need battery and charger, so I found a Lightforce rmsm140 scope mounted for about 60 quid (new) from an ebay seller. Many thanks again Malcolm
30-6
Malcolm I asked a lamp question (Logun or Deben), for close range ratting with sub 12 ft/lb and FAC range rabbits and after advice had a Deben Max 400m beam. Had the lamp with normal on/off switch and scope clamp etc, bought the switch with the variable light control as an extra, spare bulb, red snap filter, all for £83-50. Think I saved a few quid for show price from the Welsh gamefair. Was going to try it tonight on the rats, but the bloody exhaust decided to snap in half on the car . What I can gather is the quoted beam range is always a bit optimistic and with a filter on is less again One thing I am going to get to finish it off is another scope clamp (£4-95 plastic or £7-50 aluminium for 25mm), as they are quite tight so I can leave one on each gun.
