First uploaded video from GoPro camera

Recommended Posts

First of all the quality of the video is a poor reflection on the camera.

I seem to have lost all the quality when uploading it, havent a clue why but I'll get it right eventually :hmm:

Sorry for all the shouting at the dog but I forgot the whistle that day and the dog didn't have clue were the bird went, I reckon he taught I was bringing him away from all the action.

Nice video. Looks to me like the settings on the Go Pro were wrong in that the picture is not 16:9. Have you got a go Pro Hero ? If so use setting R5. If you have a Hero 2 then use 1080 and Medium FOV. Are you using some editing software ? If so the picture could be being distorted on the import - make sure you use a 16:9 import. Hope this helps ?

Its the GoPro hero 2. I had to change the file from mp4 to avi so I done that with Media converter 7.5, I then added it to windows movie maker to shorten it I then saved it on my computer and uploaded it onto youtube then.

I'll try and change to those settings now and see what difference it makes, thanks.

Video not bad but i feel sea sick now  I thought you where out for a walk, dog looks nice but seemed to not like hunting much :hmm: Good hunting cover both sides of the track, must have been some game in it. :hmm:

Yeah he can be like that some times, he's quite a soft dog but I'd much rather that than a nutter of a dog going around like a train.

Sorry about the video

I've changed the video resolution to 1080-30 and changed the fov to medium. I'll be out tomorrow morning for the last day of the season so I'll try it out then :good:

How would you recommend I go about editing and uploading the videos I dont mind spending a few bucks on some software but nothing too expensive

A reply on this would be greatly appreciated

Ok that explains it. The loss of quality came when you converted to AVI. I use Sony Vegas Pro to edit (I only use 5% it's features so its overkill) but any of the Sony Vegas products will do the job ( I think you can get the entry level for aboiut £40-50) and this avoids having to convert to AVI you can just import the MP4's. You need 1080-25 not 1080-30(select PAL).

Hope this helps and lok forward to the next video

Cheers for all that info, I'll look into that sSony vegas tomorrow. Would definitely save all the messing of converting the files.

I'm in work now but I don't think the gopro give the option of -25, ill have to check that when I get home.

Thanks again....

No probs - Ive just checked on mine - select PAL and then it will.

I've just found this what you reckon?

It looks to be the right job :hmm:

Yes that would be perfect. It has an integrated upload facility for you tube as well which will save you loads of time. Make sure the spec of your PC is up to it and over the min spec quoted. I had to upgrade my PC to handle the software.

Your right there I had to upgrade to windows vista service pack 2. I downloaded the free trial there of the cheapest sony vegas one looks good but quite complicated. I'll get the hang of it tho I'm sure.

Having problems uploading the video to youtube through sony vegas, youtube keeps saying the file type is unsupported!

Any ides?

Internet 360-25p 16:9(640x360), 25.000fps, thats the setting I have it on in sony vegas.

What should I render the output format as?

I know you have managed to upload it now but it still doesn't quite look right to me and its not 16:9. If you get 16:9 it helps make you feel less sea sick when watching the video back. On Vegas Pro I render as Type Sony AVC (MP4 etc) and choose Template 16:9 Internet HD 25P. If that fails just double check that the settings on the Go Pro are gor 16:9 wide screen

Nearly there now !!
