Couldn't believe this when I read it!

Brian Moore, a great player in his time, and IMO one of the hardest hookers in history.

But not too famous for praising England's opponents

Respect

He made a fair point about the hooking game, I think England will dominate the line outs and will probably opt for touch as often as they can.

There's no doubt that England have some great footballers in the squad, Farrell being one of them.

Got me a bit worried now :eh:

 probably

they've been showing some old 5 nations games on ESPN and Mooro despite what some think of him as a commentator would have made any of the current 6 nations set ups at hooker. Very underrated as a player and would have run through a brick wall for his team. He would've driven you nuts playing against him though - just ask the French front 3

I agree, but I've never considered Brian Moore to be underestimated.

like I said in my earlier post/ I based my whole hooking game 'round Moore when I played for W.S.

The front row play separate game, that spectators rarely see.

This is where Moore was his best. Winding up, and intimidation.

If you manage upset your front row opponent in the first hit/scrum, they're putty in your hands for the rest of the game.

Aye up hedd-wyn - ummm "up for it" i think is the expression these days!!! i spent some time with my head up various hookers butts on a saturday afternoon - 2nd row and got a squidgy nose to prove it as it was target practice for hookers slipping a bind - thats why i moved to 6  Front row forwards are generally highly stupid or highly intelligent and i could never work out why the disparity in iq in the old a,b,c positions - just always seemed that way!

Exactly the same reason why I moved to scrum half, upper cuts from second rows and no arms to retaliate

I too am an ex hooker (£10 per night or a round of beers for the rest of the team...), and always rated Brian Moore as one of the best, he had a strong work ethic to what was then an amateur game. He also gave a good insight into the "old farts" who ran the English game during the amateur era in his second autobiography, i really enjoyed parts of it, but was morbidly fascinated by other parts, and saddened by others. A riveting read for any rugby fan...

And so the count down to Saturday begins, this is a very new experience for a Welsh Fan, heading to Twickers as favourites, its also a guarantee to esnsure that England will be well pumped up for Saturday, and relishing an opportunity to kick Wales back accross the Severn Bridge with their tails between their legs....

Its going to be a loooooong week.

Hi all - I tnink it may be a longer week for us English boys next week - I really can't see past getting a rugby lesson dished out to us Red Roses on Saturday :sad1: Lets just hope for a good pitch and weather so its a Rugby match and not kicking on ice like the last two England games. I will settle for making some inroads into you welsh boys with some girly back's stuff and seeing how Ben Morgan goes - he really does look the one to watch for the future on the 30 odd minutes he's been on the pitch and from what i've seen on the Magners round-ups i catch (of which the coverage is pretty average i have to say!) - ta for bringing his game on on for us the last couple of years ;)

good luck boys and boyos.

PS - just caught up with the highlights of the Sarries and Leicester game - Mana Tuilagi looks back to match fitness so the centres could get interesting too - Brad Barritt and Tuilagi (i suspect Farrel to 10 & negate the Welsh crash ball through the centre channels) vs Jamie Roberts and Jonathan Davies - could be some massive hits!

I'm not licking my lips.... more like ******** bricks. The anxiety's killing me!

There's been to much hype IMO, and that's never a good thing

me too hedd-wynn but for the opposite reasons

hold fast, i'm sure they'll do you proud.

hopefully the old psychological verbals dont spoil the build up. I was utterley naffed off about Robinson wheeling out the tired old arrogant tag prior to the Scotland game - thought he was bigger than that  - great motivational tool though no doubt used by the coaches - it would have had me running through walls

Yep "Favourites" tag does not seem to sit comfortably with us Welsh at the moment, but as Brian Moore said, "If Wales want to be a great team, they are going to have to live with the tag of being favourites and prove they are worthy of it." Too bl**dy true!
