Saturday's Geese

I went out on the marsh on Saturday morning to catch up with the geese. There are still 100’s on the marsh at the minute and I was eager to try to my DIY goose heads on my texas rags. As it was -5 the ground was frozen solid, so I couldn’t get a decent spread of deeks set, as the stakes wouldn’t penetrate the ground! I rammed 7 or 8 of the stakes into the mud, then give up trying and settled into a nearby gutter with the dog. The vast majority of geese flew wide of me, they have learnt to fly out along the fret edge, rather than fly across the middle of the marsh. I managed to turn a few skeins, 1 of which come close enough for a shot, but I missed them.

Then these 2 came honking over together, and presented me with a fantastic left and right, I had a grin from ear to ear. :) I also bagged a teal too!

Still time for a couple more trips, and if you check the ‘shooting available’ section, you will see that I’m offering someone the chance to join me.

Very well done!! It pays to be persistent, excellent looking dog I echo the comment that "I wish I were closer" sopunds like a great offer.

I am wondering how it might work for the decoys with some pieces of scrap wood painted to match the ground then drilled the diameter of your decoy pins, sort of a platform?
