88b
I had an ex White Arrow Transit, Royal Mail probably works the same way, local depot manager puts them out to tender, his mate the used van dealer gets them. I got lucky by contacting White Arrow head office and telling them what I wanted it for, I had to travel to Norwich and the man in charge there wan't happy but I got the choice of four. Be warned they have all been thrashed within an inch of their lives :o If you want to build one from bits I think there is a gear box laying in my road, the postman engages reverse at about 40 mph to stop for the post box box. shaun4860
If you dont mind me,asking are they a lot cheaper than the van would normaly be ? Bro in law got one 2 years ago, 55 plate £2200 around 50k miles was ok apart from drivers seat was tatty if you can, go for the one with side windows and rear fold down seats as the are classed as an estate car and is £35 per year road tax (1.3cdti) but about £700 dearer. the other one is classed as a commercial and is around the £200 per year, same engine. very economical

neil w
they are cheap to buy . but they have had a hard life, stopping and starting all the time . flying up dirt track country roads.. postman pat could not give a **** .because its not his van . they are cheaper to buy at scottish auctions . proberly because they are not the cleanest examples and the markets are polluted with them .. im not saying they are all shagged but most of them are.. talking from previous experience
