Dog Fox By Lamp

Earlier on in the week I recieved a verbal request to help a farmer with a fox problem. The fox had been stealing the odd chicken every nowand again, until recently when the fox had been visiting every night and then again 1st thing on a morning.

Last night I picked the farmer up at 7.30pm (the time he had seen charlie) and we set off to have a look around.

His land is mainly grazing land so we could drive through every field.

It didnt take long until we spotted Charlie, who was tight up against a hedge back, we sat quietly for a couple of minutes trying to anticipate what he would do next, when to our surprise he decided to cross the field to head to the farm yard.

We followed him with the lamp 3/4 of the way across the field until he was in "the" perfect safe position for a shot, so I "clicked" my tounge and he stopped quickly and turned his head and looked straight at me, at which point I squeezed the trigger.

A perfect head shot at 180yards. Charlie wont have even heard the bang.

He was in tip top condition with a perfect thick winter coat.

It goes without saying that the farmer was delighted. He has asked me to thin some bunnies out in a couple of months.

It was shot with my Savage .223 using a 50GR Sierra Blitzking Bullet. I zero 1" high @ 100yards.

The Blitzking bullets I find are deadly accurate and when they hit they are devastating
