K Mac
Hi All I would just like to let everyone know how good a bloke DM80 is I ordered one of his moderators for my HMR after my Sirocco SM11. Burnt out after 284 rounds Edgar Brothers did send me some stainless steel baffles but lost confidence in it. Dave’s one will not burn out it is built to last and arrived super quick. I thought he was doing this in his shed as a hobby but he sent me his business card. He dose all kinds of fire arms repairs if I was closer he would be my gun smith so all you lads in the Bolton area you are lucky. Thanks again Dave (DM80) Cheers K Mac
Dekers
My general understanding of Dave Mercer is that he is a decent bloke and clever and dedicated and has some skills. Fact is, if you want to hang a monster on the end of your rimfire they are the best mods I have tried for sound reduction...JUST, but they are also the biggest, and heaviest and from what I understand these days about the most expensive as well...how much did it cost? ATB!
K Mac
Yes it is bigger that some BUT it wont have to be replaced every few hundred rounds. It dose not interfere with my sight picture. Once it is fitted the rifle over all length is shorter. As for weight if I feel that is an issue for a longer shot I will just move position so I can rest the rifle. It is easy to strip and clean. So for £85 I am very happy with it. Cheers K Mac

telf
DM80 does one of the best mods - fact!!!! Another fact that some on here miss is the DM80 mod is an over the barrel fit. So a fact is that a SAK increases the length of your barrel more than the DM80. As for weight - they are very light and I don't really notice it on. The balance must be better with it cutting over the barrel. I have used a SAK and and a DM80 on my .17hmr and the SAK will not be going back on. Make your own minds up. But can't get away from the facts. +
Dunkield
How do find out information about Dave's mods? It seems to have been on a need to know basis up to now, does he have the specs and prices available anywhere online?
Dunkield
Yeah I did that years ago but he never replied, surely it would be easier to publish all your information so you can get on and make the things, rather than having to wade through enquiries asking exactly the same questions over and over again? Same here thats why I paid £15 extra and bought a wildcat whisper over the counter. No waiting for it to be made or shipped either.
Dunkield
I am not criticising DM80's business model, but ... if wanted to find out how much an ASE weighs for instance I could look it up, or how long it is, or what it is made from, how much over barrel it comes etc etc etc As I say, answering the same questions day in day out via PM must detract from the amount of time he could be at the lathe making moderators and therefore money?
