Swathing Rape.

AndyCM, a bit further South than you, down in the Romney Marsh area.

I did notice some swathed fields towards Canterbury, as well.

Thanks for that Cranfield, I hope you get into them soon.

I just heard that a grass field has been cut on my local patch, so in the absence of any crops being cut I might be having a look this evenings for crows. Time for the .17 to come out again !

Cheers

Anyone around Perranporth that needs a hand shooting that has a spare gun drop me a line..........

otherwise I will be force to go hunting rabbits by torch light with my 6 year old daugher on the camp site.......without the aid of a gun.............................

I could have a bloody field day down there with the silenced X2................but no........I have to play happy tourist and watch buggs hopping around the campsite.......

Hi, swathed rape does pull them in but do try and find a flattened slot to drop the bird in, otherwise you'll never get them. I had a go last year and got a bag full but had to leave as many as they were impossible to get at i.e. trying to crawl through swathed OSR is a non-starter, not to mention inadvisable in terms of damaging the crop. Good luck, Axel.

Here in sunny Suffolk the rape and barley's about a week/10 days away from being harvested.

The problem with any standing crop is a) doing more damage than Woody and  finding downed birds AND doing more damage in the process. You ain't gonna win any (farmer) friends that way especially as they're not worried about Woody so much at/after harvest anyway :good:
