kdubya
i thinks many people talking on here down really understand big game hunting. Big game hunting brings at lot of money to places where other work is minimal. A lot of big game hunting perserves animals ie lions are breed to be shot in the same way pheasants are, but not ever lion breed for shooting gets shot. Game reserves spend a large amount of time preserving there stock and keeping out poachers, nearly all big game hunting is africa is sustainble. Quite a lot of big cats shot are shot becasue they are posing a threat either by eating goats etc or plaquing humans. MAny of you think its right to go out a shoot a fox for 'pest control' but not too pay to shoot a big cat for pest control!!! Many non shooters believe driven game shooting in England is just posh toff drving range rovers blasting poor defenceless birds out of the air.Im sure most of you would call them nieve but this is exacally what you are doing to big game hunters. Lests be honest stalking a big cat for days waiting to get a shot or lamping rabbits at 60 yards....... which is really more sporting? dont think they waited that long, take a GOOD look at the vid and you can see the fencing? here kitty kitty kitty bang ooh ******* missed help!!!! Blobby
its not pest control and its not sport, seems like pointless ego trip to me, just something to boast about
artschool
Rabbits are A non indigenous species introduced, I think, by the Romans. If left unchecked they cause untold damage to crops, land & peoples livelihood. Rats spread disease...look up leptospirosis. Both species, if left unchecked have the ability to multiply faster than natural predators or environmental control. Because of this ability to multiply at such accelerated rates, if they are left unchecked excess populations of them can be become detrimental to either or both the local environment and the Human population that co inhabits it..therefore both of the aforementioned species need control. It's not about valuing Life as such, but more to preserve livelihoods and Health. but, If you must know.... I value my life over yours. so lions aren't detrimental to the local populations in Africa? I won't answer your last comment, as it says more about you than perhaps you realise.

WGD
One mans meat is another mans poison. I have paid money to shoot all sorts of different game birds. I cant see the difference. What do you guys think the difference is between this and stalking deer in the highlands ? Now i personally have no wish to shoot a lion, but i would not say that another man shouldnt do it if he was acting within the confines of that country's laws. Also are lions an endangered species? I seem to remember that some game reserves have to cull so many each year to keep the balance right ? Just my two penneth worth Sums it up perfectly IMO. zipdog
in many country houses there are deer heads screwed on the wall as trophies, what is the difference. Not many stalkers really hunt for meat. This video is an extreme example of hunting in africa, while i do not condone shooting lions in a pen some people need to understand not all big game hunting is like this. Looking at this video is like looking a the league against cruel sports website and form an opinion on shooting. Too many people hide on here under 'i ony shoot for pest control' TO the majority on here the pest control they do makes no differnce to themselves, they shoot becasue they enjoy it end off. monkey001
Shocked at some of the comments on a shooting forum tbh.....
Winterwolf
Never understood game hunting ... especially "My cocks bigger then Yours" big game hunting. Not really a sport when three big fatties have rifles to take down an animal in its own territory with only claws to defend itself from a distance. Sport kind of implies competition ... I class that as a massacre.... and not humane at all ... You cant say that was even a clean kill at that speed ... unlike the chance you have of a deer standing mostly still. Not exactly a hippy, but I for one was routing for the lion ... ****in pricks.
