I cant get Fox on my 17 HMR ticket dispite having open status to .243 but some FAO will allow it, we dont get much choice here its remmy or hornady in 17 grain which if you can get close enough (100 yards or less)and pick the hit the sweet spot will do the job, of course there are a few nobbers that will chance a pot at any range, nuff said.........

Only ever used my HMR with 17grn BT`s. Iv taken fox with it out to 100yards with headshots and its done the job every time! But ive never used the 20grn HP so cant really comment in them. But looking at images on Varmint Al`s web site it looks like the 20HP pretrates more and does more damage providing it has the material to breack up in !

So my plan is the next fox i shoot i will take with a 17grn BT via a head shot and then

reposition the fox and at 100yards shoot it again with 20grn HPs and see what it does with a bit of a PM

If the 20grn HP look good i may just start using 20grn HPs when looking for fox.

But for rabbit its always going to be the 17grn BT. :good:

Buy a box of 20`s and do some of your own testing and see what you think but definately start out with the 17`s.

:good:

I'll save you the time, the 20's make a very small hole in and they go straight through leaving a small hole and not enough trauma. head shots you should be fine but not so with boiler room ones as they run. They have a hole through the chest so they don't go far and they die fast but not as good as the 17's that don't tend to exit so the fox gets the benefit of all the power
