pigeon shooting nations?

Recommended Posts

France and Spain both shoot pigeons as a big sport. From what I gather it is expensive and exclusive and done in a completely different way to here. It is described in one of the pigeon books I have.

The US doesn't have wood pigeons, but we do have mourning doves which fill a similar niche. Dove shooting in the US is pretty poopular.

Thanks

Rick

I sold some Dippas to chap in Norway that does woody shooting, if I remember correctly he said they have a 3 month shooting season on them.

He browses this site so maybe he can confirm.

Think we are the biggest woodpigeon shooters especialy for decoying.

Most other EU countries have 'seasons' for woodpigeon shooting.

It seems to be fairly popular though, although it is often done in a completely different way(especially in France)

I know that they do 'decoy' in Norway, Belgium, Sweden and France because I've sold my floaters to people

in those countries. (Even sent some to Oz). Then there's the Dove shooting in South America, that's big business!

thanks lads, i did think it was popular but what got me thinking is i tried browsing a few over seas shops online to see what sort of decoys etc they sell to see if i could pick up something a little different and on the cheap, hit a brick wall tho. seems like no one is selling decoying gear! in my head i just thought id bump in to the likes of cabbelas but in france or something. guess its like some of you say! they shoot differnt over these places and dont take on our tactics.
